Maggie Fink was born and raised in Scottsdale, AZ. Growing up as a dancer, Maggie was always
involved in the community and intrigued by the artist’s lifestyle. She graduated from Scott
Cole Academy when she was 19 and immediately began her assisting program at one of Arizona’s
largest hair salons in Arizona, Sachi. After building a clientele she decided to get her own
chair. 6 years later she found herself getting bored with the same old hair experiences.
Hair in Scottsdale she felt was just another high maintenance necessity and wanted to do something
more with the industry. Maggie started to research the process of starting a business and decided
to take it on with a different approach.
The entire project took over a year in which Maggie spent researching the safest products
& supplies not only for the environment, but for the health of the stylists. And after hours of
studying she was appalled at what she learned. She couldn’t believe the amount of unnecessary
chemicals and lack of regulation there was against it. She felt Green w/ envy was something she
had to do.
Maggie eats, drinks, and breaths "green". This vegetarian stylist loves coming to work
in the morning feeling that she is making a difference. Her mission is to educate consumers about
what they should and shouldn’t put on their skin and to be a pioneer in the green beauty world by
encouraging other beauty businesses to run their operations with the environment and health of
consumers in mind.
Like mother, like daughter, Kaci Moore became a stylist after watching her mother cut hair for
years, but not in a salon. As her family’s stylist, Kaci’s mom cut her 7 children’s hair
whenever they needed a trim. Kaci worked as her mother’s assistant as she got older and loved
the creative zone she fell into during cutting and coloring hair. This inspired her to attend
the Evit Academy of Cosmetic Arts in Mesa, Ariz.
Kaci specializes in natural looking hair. She works with a client’s natural hair type and
features to enhance his or her individual beauty. She likes to create styles that move and
take minimal time to style at home.
Kaci loves her industry, but recognizes the danger in some products, which is why she was
attracted to green wIenvy. She wants to do everything she can that makes her industry a little
safer.
Bobby Von Jones combines his two passions with his work: hair and traveling. He first attended hair
school in Florida, and then completed advanced training in New York, London, and Milan. He
specializes in advanced cutting, coloring and highlights, up-dos, and styling for photos and
television. His creative energy and love for people has allowed Bobby to travel worldwide educating
other stylists for ten years. He has also worked behind the camera styling hair at Osmond Studios for
television production.
As a neighbor of the salon, living in Old Town Scottsdale, Bobby incorporates a green lifestyle into
his everyday activities outside of the salon. He limits his car use by walking to work, shopping and
dining, and uses fluorescent bulbs in his home.
Jamie Dix’s eco friendly character blends naturally into the atmosphere at green wIenvy. She loves
incorporating a green lifestyle into her work and her home. At home, she eats organic foods, buys
environmentally friendly house cleaning products, recycles and rides her bike wherever she can.
Jamie fell in love with the hair industry because of the creativity of making someone feel beautiful.
She went to school at Toni and Guy in 2004 and has worked in a salon since she was 17.
This easy-going, mellow stylist loves working with clients to give them different daily options for
their hair type. Jamie specializes in short women’s cuts, curly hair and blonds.
After attempting to work in data-processing for her mother, and only lasting one day, Ruth Defoor got
exactly what she wanted: to go to cosmetology school. She went to Howard Vo-Tech Cosmetology in
Elliot City, Maryland and received straight A's the whole way. She always loved to style and cut hair,
but color became her passion and her art. She is now an American Board Certified Colorist, meaning she
has been acknowledged for her deep understanding of color, her dedication to the art, and as one of the
best in her craft.
Ruth likes to try new restaurants in downtown Phoenix, and to check out the art at First Fridays. She
loves drawing people, oil painting and music. At home, she lives a green lifestyle by walking as many
places as possible and using responsible products.
She thinks that working in a non-toxic environment and creating beautiful hair color with an eco friendly
product is wonderful for both her and her client. Ruth agrees with Kermit the frog "It’s not easy being
green, but it beats the alternative."
Eric Flotta has been doing hair for as long as he can remember. The more training he received, the more he
became engrossed in the industry. He realized that cutting hair is his passion and he wanted to do hair for
a living. He attended Artistic Beauty College in Scottsdale in 2004.
Eric grew up eating a macrobiotic diet, so he is no stranger to the organic philosophy of green w|envy.
He connects with the concept and the down to earth environment of the salon.
Eric loves making his clients look and feel their best. He is drawn to the hair industry because of the
immediate satisfaction he gets from using his creative talents to make people feel better about themselves.
His specialties include cutting, color correction and finishing.
Stephanie Knaub’s creative flair for hair has been growing since her high school days. She became her
friends' personal up-do stylist when it came to prom season. The industry drew Stephanie in with its
interactive environment and the creative skill necessary to succeed. She trained at Carstens in Tempe, Ariz.,
and even after years of doing prom hair, up-dos are Stephanie’s specialty and her favorite.
Stephanie thinks anything you can do to better your health makes sense, which is why she chose to work at
green w|envy. If you can make your hair care a little safer, why not?
Kittim Gastulum has always been good with his hands and has always known he was meant to do artistic work.
He found the perfect creative outlet in cosmetology. In 2000, Kittim attended the Scott Cole Academy in
Scottsdale, Ariz., where he was trained alongside Maggie Fink, green wIenvy‘s visionary.
Kittim specializes in dry cutting, coloring and curly hair. He loves the versatility of the industry that
allows him to work with clients outside of the salon for photo shoots, runway shows, or any other event.
The green philosophy of the salon meshes easily into Kittim’s organic lifestyle. He is a vegetarian, he
recycles regularly, and he stays active by hiking, snowboarding and playing almost every sport there is.
Kittim also loves the theatre and recently began moonlighting as an actor.
If your friend told you to jump off a bridge, would you? In this case Jesse McLeod did, but instead of a bridge,
she jumped into her career. While living in Louisiana, a friend convinced Jesse to attend hair school because
"it would be fun." She agreed and trained at the Neil Institute. Jesse soon discovered that cosmetology was
more of a passion than just a passing whim.
In 2005, Jesse worked with Betsey Johnson, a renowned fashion designer, and local designers during a fashion show
at the Bentley Projects, an art gallery in Phoenix. Her skills and creativity allowed her to be dramatic in both
hair and makeup for the show, where she was the only stylist.
This "green" mom chose to work at green w|envy because she understands the advantages of sustainability. With a
young daughter and another one on the way, she values the health benefits of living green. Instead of buying
processed and packaged baby food, she makes it organically with fresh ingredients.
